This Blog’s 1st Week, Actions Taken

First week and going strong I thought I’ll do a little time line of where I am at the moment, just to let you know what it is that I have done and how I went about taking action.

There’s going to be a bit of copy and paste below just so I can indicate points where I got inspired. This will stand as a reference for future updates as well. We’ll start with the e-mails and towards purchasing the program, study habits, finding a web host, domain and finally the blogging process.

Timeline Starts

  • How to choose the right blog topic – 1st e-mail

“Sometimes no amount of research, self reflection, internal or external analysis will give you an answer. Only the MARKET can give you a definite result. You have to set a blog up and just start writing and see what happens. You can always make adjustments as you go along.”

Mar. 2

  • How I made my first $100 online – 2nd e-mail

If you don’t meet your first goal, and making that first $100 is definitely a big achievement for someone new to online business, it can be difficult to stay on track.

  • More interesting points …

Blogging can take a WHILE to make good money, especially if you’re building an authority blog.

In short, you need to consistently produce great content and market your blog to build it into something stable. That takes time.

Mar. 4

  • How to get more blog comments – 3rd e-mail

If no one is reading your blog then no one will leave comments either. Simply posting great articles to your blog is not enough – you have to *market* your blog to bring people to it.

Remember, comments on your blog are very important, take the time to respond to them.

Mar. 5

  • direct download for my subscribers (that’s you) – 4th e-mail
  • Membership Mastermindopens next Tuesday the 9th of March

Mar. 11

  • How to find blog topics that make money – 5th e-mail

If you still have not committed to a topic for your blog or you are worried that you won’t be able to turn a profit from what you are writing about, I have a blog post that you need to read.

Mar. 18

  • How to build a popular blog – 6th e-mail

You won’t have a marketing budget or the benefits of a public relations officer drumming up free publicity for you. You have to do all this for yourself. You wear all the hats for your blog – author, publisher, marketer and public relations.

The first step to build blog traffic is accepting the fact that you will have to *work* for your traffic. No one is going to do it for you. No one is going to help you. Your blog is your baby and you are a single parent, solely responsible for its growth.

I tell my blogging students not to bother looking for traffic in the first month of blogging. Your blog may be online, but it’s better if people don’t know about it until you get something there worth reading. Once the content is in place and you finish all the pre-launch activities, then you can officially “launch” and get the word out about your blog.

Mar. 21

  • How to gain access to top affiliates – 7th e-mail

People come to me complaining that there is an “inner circle” of top affiliates who only promote other top affiliates who are in the “circle”.

The inner circle exists because in order to earn the benefit of having top partners promote your products and content, there needs to be a reason why.

Blog Profits first week online. So as you can see, I have been blogging ever since. And yes, there are two blogs I manage but with studies being priority over play, the main site exists as an index to all the sub-domains. More rambling than specifics. How that will be is still early to tell.

Have you documented your blogging process? How did you do? Were there are noticeable changes?
