I’ve been noticing a lot of views on my Sitemap page as of recent, but what’s more is that I’m also doing the same elsewhere on other blogs. At first I thought, ‘Is this a problem?’ Then again, I put on my optimist hat and turn the effort into getting to know the blogger, indirectly.

Here’s why.
One of the things all bloggers love is traffic to their site. When you can stay longer and browse around the pages, well, the stats will show up on their Analytics that the time spent will be more than the average visitor. So you’re a golden nugget here.
And it doesn’t matter if you’re a commentator, social networker or drifter. Out of the 3 types of blog visitors, the drifter will stay around the longest.
Why is that?
Well, you can’t comment on every blog post. While you would love to go through them all, there’s just not enough time. There are other blogs to visit as well.
The next reason is you’re not ready to give out your e-mail yet or even be seen in the blog’s community. Strange but trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve hovered around hundreds of articles, comments, banners and whatnot and found that that Casper-like behavior only makes me want to reach out more.
It looks like I’m building up my arsenal and infantry but at the same time, I don’t want to be bothered with spam from commenting!
So I’m on the defensive here and really, I just want to watch my back.
Why the heck am I blog drifting for then?
Research. You see, blog drifting, in it’s truest nomadic form is the most experienced visitor of them all. This may now seem like an addendum to the types of visitors, but it’s really about the benefits of knowing your community better.
Why should you even raid your nearest blog?
For Content Direction

You want to know what topics your blogging friend is interested in. Right off the bat, just as you’re talking to a stranger, in the first few minutes through the archives, you can tell if you’ll be hitting the right notes.
Basically, will you both be talking the same language?
No? Well, then get some reading done. Browse the About page, read the comments, see who the top commentators are and what they have to say about the articles written. I really appreciate it when my visitors leave me warm comments and actually take some time and effort into conversing with me, especially in wishing me well and whatnot.
And if there is a sense of reciprocity given to the visitors on the blog, I would strongly urge you to network, because there is potential for you to learn, grow and even develop in whichever direction you’re pursuing online here.
So reach out and connect!
This is web 2.0 here folks. Stalking is overrated. We may all be writing about different topics but one of the things besides politeness that gets us across online is direct conversations. Just like real life, we all approach the beginnings with a little finesse but as that block is turned, things can go cray cray.
What’s evident though is there’s hunger.
When we can feed that appetite, the blogger who sees it tends to us. And once we’ve gotten a bit to bite, we can begin to the process of approaching business. Thus, I believe that frenzy is something to understand. Psychologically, that’s an action telling us that a trigger has been pulled.
No Hype, Just Truth
I don’t know how many times I’ve been excited and in carrying that elsewhere to another blog, I get disappointed when they’re not as excited as I am. Truth is, there is more misery than successes in the blogosphere. However, that doesn’t mean my parade has been rained on, it just means there are now fellow bloggers to revive and inject with hope.
Yeah, superhero time!
But that wasn’t always the case. I don’t think this strength was obvious until I had confidence, and that was mainly backed by a strong army of friends and network which I enjoy interacting with. It makes life beautiful on the net. But you have to understand, not everything is Pleasantville all the time.
There are problems everywhere and solutions are not found.
So when you see solutions fanatically in one place and self-fulfilling prophecies in another, they aren’t listening to each other. And the thing is they’re two languages mimicking one another on so many levels deep, that sometimes you may think we are secretly at war.
Only that’s farthest away from the truth, because the truth is we’re all trying to figure out how to get further connect online. And there has to be some human element to all the how to banter.
So what is the truth and is all this networking and online hugging real?
This is what I have to say – when it’s love, it’s love. You can’t explain it.
That’s passion.
That’s something science can also show you with analytics but it’s not why I keep blogging. I don’t know how many times you’ve drowned yourself in misery just to blog, but maintaining a site isn’t for everyone.
What’s evident is you have to believe in yourself and raise back up that dead idea in which you’ve started out with. The moment you start to doubt myself, that’s when you’re getting away from your target, your goal. What’s evident is when you realize this, it becomes personal.
You can see through the lies and hype. That’s why when you too put in the effort towards seeing what your passion is, only time will reveal the truth. And for me, it’s raiding other blogs to learn that I have something in common with them, connect and linger longer.
That may be a weird way to reach out, but really, I’m giving you my time to honestly want to get to know you. So whether I’m valuable to you or not, depends on how you’ll receive me too.
Now go out there and raid the nearest blog around you.
What can you learn?

Just got a wonderful email after writing my first comment on your blog. Just like the amount of time you have spent on your blog, the email reflected true sincerity and passion for making me a loyal visitor.
The thing I have started to admire about your posts is the clarity and the amount of information you put into a single article.I am guessing you spend quite a few hours on each individual post.
It was indeed a great read.
PS – I would love to know what plugin you use for the follow up.

Hi Ajay!
Welcome back. Yes, I do take my time to craft my blog posts and what’s more is that I love spending those moments to get intune with my muse.
I really love the writing aspect of researching and putting it altogether. So yeah, I’m kind of technical in that aspect.
What’s more, learning how to influence my blogging friends the way I want to and not lead them on is my purpose. Thus, I want to speak to you as you’re really talking to me. Sometimes, I may say too much though, but hey, where else can I do that?
Thanks so much for your kind words. The plugin which I used is Thank You Later. You can find that through this link: http://infinity-infinity.com/thank-me-later/
Better yet, do a WP search and install it from your dashboard.

Hi Thu:
Read your blog post. Wow so realistic. Since our goal and purpose is positive we as bloggers should always think positive so, we may get what we are aiming for.
So, you did direct your thought to the right directions. I do come to your site sometime while surfing, but I donot leave a comment all the time. As it is hard to do that, because of the time and focus.
So everything is ic great keep up the journey. I will appreciate you visitng my site too as had been a while that will keep the 100 comments challenge alive that taught real networking.
All the best.

Hi Thu,
I’m always visiting other blogs to learn what techniques they are using to make their blogs visible as well as getting ideas on content. It’s really the best way to research. I can pick up writing styles, ideas on blog themes, what type of information to include on an about page. There’s just tons of information out there to learn

Hi Richard,
From our conversations, you do keep yourself afloat. In fact, I have a lot to learn from in terms of business gems. You’ve got yourself a forum, ad board. These are remarkable feats and I’m sure there are bloggers who want to know how to do all these themselves but aren’t tech-savvy enough.
I’ll say, keep doing what it is you’re doing. In fact, will soon raid your blog to find out.

Hi Thu
As you know I visit heaps of blogs evey day. Keeps up my profile in my small niche but also connects me to other bloggers who I am learning heaps from. I enjoy visiting here cos you write quality posts as I have alluded to on several occassions.
I seem to be visiting different blogs to when I first started out. Probably cos I am interacting with those I visit now and in the beginning I was just learning something new but the blogger is either now not blogging or just not interacting so I don’t bother. To me it is important to build community and communicate in an honest way with ohers. It’s getting easier to suss who is genuine and who is not. Thanks for sharing Thu. Much appreciated.

One thing that’s really fun to do when you dig through a bloggers archive is to see how they’ve progressed over time – it’s fun to bring up older posts with them especially when it’s goal oriented, ya know? You could be like – hey, I saw a few months ago you were working on this – how’d it go? Need help?
Another cool thing is that you could also bring up older posts in your own – I think we all have that idea of a roundup post where it’s the latest offering but what about topics that happened a year ago that are still very relevant today?
We all have those posts that we’ve wrote a long time ago that were really moving and passionate but just didn’t get the attention because we were new. We could dig up each others old posts and talk about them

Hey, that’s what I’m talking about, the business medic here. Yes, I know what you mean. When it comes to focus, some of us may lose that and that’s where YOU come in. I love the way you bring another light to the topic. That is absolutely taking it one step further and actually making it personal.
While I believe I’m seeing it as a way for bloggers to build relationships, your perspective on taking it one step further is very eye-opening. As usual, you so rock Murray.

Your blog just got raided by me! I don’t know exactly where I fit in, but I do read a lot of blogs and I comment when I have something to contribute. I read about 4 posts on your blog but only commented on this one. I’m feeling a bit like a Viking. I’ve collected my booty and I’m off to raid another.

I’m shakened but not stirred haha. Yes, the blog is still stable. LOL. Thanks for your honesty Jenny. As long as we can communicate on some level whether the topic is relevant or not, I think blogging has done it’s job as a social hub. More so in that it’s really a matter of reaching out.
Welcome to Blogging For! I’m glad you’ve reached passed the Viking status.
That kind of gives me an idea. Implementing a token of appreciation through badges. Hmmm. Well, my 4 articles, that’s too much to ask for. As long as you have gotten something of course to take away. Otherwise, I would feel like you’ve been through torture!
Appreciate you taking out the time to share your experience and how was the last blog raid?
Please come again soon and feel free to connect through my other social streams.

What I love about blogging most is the interaction between blogger and reader. Sometimes, the conversations spawned from one post stretch on for pages down. It’s a really fun thing to be part of; getting feedback and critique from the people who actually love what you’re writing about.
